The OMP history now includes a new memorable page. Envision Racing, partner of the Racing Force Group brand, conquered the 2023 Formula E Teams’ World championship, following an exciting ride which culminated in winning the last race of the year in London.
Season 9 of the all-electric series introduced major technical changes, with the launch of the more powerful, lighter and faster Gen3 cars. For OMP this was the third year of the collaboration with Envision Racing, providing the racewear for the drivers Nick Cassidy and Sébastien Buemi, who both quickly showed their potential.
In Hyderabad, in the third weekend on the calendar, Cassidy stepped on the podium for the first time, finishing in the top 3 also in the following events in Cape Town and Sao Paulo. The New Zealander celebrated his first success of the year in Berlin race 2, while Envision Racing jumped to the top of the overall standings at the Monaco E-Prix.
The success in the London E-Prix second heat proved to be decisive to secure the Teams’ title. Starting from pole, Cassidy dominated a race made extremely demanding by the rain. His race leadership never appeared under threat. With his fourth personal victory of the season, the Kiwi became Drivers’ runner-up champion.
His new teammate, 2015-16 Formula E champion Sébastien Buemi, brought a fundamental contribution with his experience and several points-finishes, including a podium. The Swiss ace also set two poles in Diriyah and Berlin.
As the pole position awards three extra points, this helped Envision Racing to take the world crown with a total score of 304. The achievement is even more significant as Envision Racing is a customer team, capable of beating a number of official car manufacturers.
“To win this World Championship is absolutely fantastic, the whole team have worked so hard, it’s been an amazing season. We thank all of our partners for the incredible support, including OMP for providing our drivers with a comfortable and safe race kit to go out and win races in!”, Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director & CTO at Envision Racing Formula E Team, commented. “We are excited to continue working with OMP for Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.”
The 2024 Formula E season will kick-off on January 13 at Mexico City, and the OMP brand is now ready to help Envision Racing in the quest for a second title.
